"Hiding away the human body in shame"
Is a relic of Victorian philosophy
And was Adam's second mistake.
Now, Madison Avenue makes us hate
The thing we hide away.

Pornography sits comfortably,
In the Variety Store,
On a shelf that any teenager can reach,
While down the road,
At a nearby beach,
A nude sunbather is arrested
For indecent exposure.

of one of my line drawings of a smiling sun, titled
"Bliss," a sort of self-portrait I drew at a moment
of ambiguous ecstasy, while a graphic design student
many years ago.

"SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER" by JTK.CA

Dear Earthings,

As you already likely know, I receive Disability pensions for my Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is my only official diagnosis, and it is enough of a friendly demon to live with. However, I think I also have "Social Anxiety Disorder" and am "BiPolar." Like I said, OCD is enough to deal with, so I'm not going to try treating 3 mental illnesses, which would probably end up causing even more.

For a brand new poem, I often say,
"This is hot off my mental presses."
For this one though, I'll say,
"This is hot off my mental depresses."

Yesterday, the city I wandered,
Feeling lonely in the crowd.

Today, I'm home alone,
Dreaming stories to myself.
I think about going out
To let the real world in,
But I'll probably just stay inside
With "Solitude" and "Fear,"
My constant friends.

Tomorrow's full of promise,
But today is all I have.
And promises are broken,
So why even reach out to grab?

Today is all I have
And about all that I can handle.
My struggle with Solitude and Fear
Makes for a very quiet battle.

Feigning luck,
I'll pull a crank;
Yank a practical joker out of the deck;
Phone you in the voice of Ed McMahon
And tell you you've just won
Negative ten million dollars,
And all you have to do to get rich is
Travel with it into an opposite universe.

Feigning mathematical improbabilities,
I'll bring you a long shot on a silver platter
And proclaim,
"You are one in a million!"
Neglecting to mention the six thousand others.*

Feigning luck,
I'll pull the crank
Of a one-armed bandit,
And take you for everything you've got.

* Tad's Note: As the world's population of 6,586,687,679 (estimated at 9:11 AM, 2007-04-29) increases by more than one person per second

I'll have to edit the poem from saying "six thousand others" to saying "seven thousand others" pretty soon. Originally it said "five thousand others," because the world population was five billion when I originally wrote the poem. So, next time someone tells you that you are "one in a million," realize that there are 6.586687679 thousand other "one in a millions"...approximately ;-)

How do I remove "United States" from my vox pages? I am in Canada.

How come I cannot remove
United States
as my country?

I am not in the United States.

My location is
Guelph, Ontario, Canada

I want
United States
OFF my profile
but cannot figure out how.
